Ann Barbato has been accepted into the juried show, First Anniversary: PAPER at the Fountain Street Fine Art Gallery, 59 Fountain Street, Frammingham, MA.The show runs from January 13-February 5, 2012. The juror was James Welu, Dir. Emeritus Worcester Art Museum. Public Reception will be held on January 21, 2012, 5pm-7pm.
Carol Blackwell currently has six pieces as part of an artists book exhibit at Munroe Gallery, Munroe Art Center 1403 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington; gallery hours 10am–4pm, Monday through Friday, closed weekends. Exhibit ends January 14. The show is filled with uniquely constructed books as scrolls, as sculpture, and as metaphor by well-know artists such as Peter Madden, Stephanie Stigliano and others. Each work is a one-of-a-kind, hand-made tribute to what our imagination can conceive from one simple yet complex idea of what an object may become. Carol teaches collage, construction, printmaking and experimental book-making at The Danforth Museum School and Newton Art Centre.
John Borchard and Marian Dioguardi open their Studio #223B on SoWa's First Friday evening every month throughout the year. All artists in this dynamic studio building invite you into their studios to see their latest work and to visit artists in their element. Fran Busse showcases over 30 new works in oil in her solo exhibit, Caught in the Current, on view through February 29 at First Rugs, 342 Great Road (Routes 2A and 27), Acton. The opening reception is on Thursday, February 2, 5:30-8:00pm. Known for her realistic paintings of New England landscapes and barns, Fran takes a leap into abstraction in her new paintings which are inspired by wetlands, rivers and ponds observed in her travels. Helen Byers is a featured instructor for 2012 at Ghost Ranch Education and Retreat Center near Abiquiu, New Mexico. Located in a spectacular, high-desert setting on some 20,000 acres, Ghost Ranch was for years a home of Georgia O'Keeffe. Helen Byers will be teaching Still-Life Drawing (June 25-July 1), Field Sketching Ghost Ranch Fauna and Flora (July 2-8), and Celebrations for Days of the Dead (October 29-November 2). Patricia Crotty is exhibiting at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, from January 12 – February 25, 2012. The opening is January 19, from 5:30-7:30pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday–Sunday, 12:00noon-6:00pm.

Cheryl Dyment's exhibit "The Importance of Floating...and Other Lessons" provides an intimate look at the artist's recollections of a decades old near-drowning experience on the North Shore. These works explore the effects of our ability to protectively alter our mental and physical state in a time of stress or trauma.
The show will be presented at the Firehouse Center for the Arts, Newburyport, MA from February 1-March 11, 2012. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, February 4 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. For more information, visit the artist's website or visit www.firehouse.org.

Larry Grob is displaying recent pastel landscapes at the Weston Congregational Church, through March 27. The show is titled The Art of Place: Nature and forms that make this our New England. Thoughtfully observed, sustainably seen. For those interested, noted environmental activist Bill McKibben will be delivering a sermon at the church on March 25, a very coincidental tie-in with the pastel exhibit. An artist reception will be held on February 5, from 11:45 to 1:00pm. Exhibit hours are Tuesdays-Fridays 8:00am-noon, and Sundays 9:30-10:30am. Location is 130 Newton Street, in Weston.

Mary Beth Maisel was invited to author the chapter Nature printing using the gelatin plate for THE ART OF PRINTING FROM NATURE: A guidebook from the Nature Printing Society.

David Mangels will be contributing a piece as part of Liminal: the Space Between - An Exhibition of Contemporary Photography at the Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, 40 Stow Street, Concord. The exhibition begins on January 16 and will continue through March 5. An opening reception will take place on Thursday, January 26 from 7:00-9:00pm. The event will mark David's first acceptance as an exhibiting photographer.
Karen Danstedt Roop will be having a one-woman show of her paintings at Newbury Court in Concord from January 18 to March 9. An opening reception will be held on January 22 from 2 to 4. All are welcome.
Randi Siu's Asian Aspects series of paintings, celebrating the Chinese Year of the Dragon in art, will be held on Saturday, January 21 from 5:00-7:00pm at Neiman Marcus, 2nd floor, Women's Wear, 1 Copley Place, in Boston Massachusetts. The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served. The Asian Aspects exhibit at Neiman Marcus, begins on January 22 and runs through February 29 and is open during regular business hours: Monday-Saturday, 10:00am-8:00pm and Sunday, 12noon-6:00pm.

Malcolm and Elisabeth Weir were in their first show in the UK, which ran through the month of September. “Art After George”, an exhibition of artists who are descendants (or spouses/partners of descendants) of George Howard, 9th Earl of Carlisle. It was held in the at the Dacre Hall, Lanercost, Cumbria, and coincided with the dedication of a new gravestone for the 9th Earl. Malcolm and Elisabeth had two pieces in the show: “Carats of the Gelt”, and “Sunset at Talkin Tarn." See more of their work at http://www.weir2x.com.

John M. Williams is exhibiting work in his show, A New Perspective on the Civil War, at the Winchester Public Library, 80 Washington Street, Winchester, MA. Reception is January 5, from 7:00-8:30pm.
Bruce Wood is exhibiting New England snow scenes in the Associates Exhibition at the Lyme Art Association, Lyme CT and the "Beauty of White" exhibition at the Cape Cod Art Association in Barnstable, MA. The LAA show runs through February 25, and the CCAA exhibition is January 19-February 20.
