Order Insecta, an exhibit curated by Tamara Krendel, features various
interpretations of insects in a wide range of complementary styles and
mediums by five distinguished artists:
-
Anne Oldach, sculptor
-
Jenny Lawton Grassl, visual poet
-
Randal Thurston, installation artist
-
Elizabeth Awalt, painter
-
Tamara Krendel, painter
One of the painters traveled to Mexico in order to paint the migrating monarch butterflies, another raised dozens of Luna moths inside her studio as subjects for her paintings and the poet “collected” and pinned down words in boxes along side butterflies. This show includes evocative works in mixed media, encaustic and an installation of paper cutouts.
