The Old North Bridge in Panarama!

This fall, the Concord Art Association will present a unique perspective of a regional icon, the Old North Bridge. In the exhibit, FROM A FIXED POINT: New Art From the Old North Bridge, Concord-based artists celebrate the interconnection of local landscape, history and artistic expression.

“We are all familiar with the views of the bridge,” explains curator, Ilana Manolson, “but this exhibit by contrast, uses the Old North Bridge as a point of departure from which a myriad of artistic possibilities emerge. The artists may be inspired by the architecture, the windswept reeds, patterns in the water or the texture and color of swamp life – this show elicits the contemporary artistic richness of Concord.

These eleven artists have been sketching and creating new bodies of work from this site since Spring. The media and techniques they employ are as varied as their styles and visions and include oil painting, monoprints, photography and fiber.

The Concord Art Association wishes to thank the National Park Service for graciously granting permission to the artists to work at this historic site.

The show runs from October 18 through November 25. Opening reception is Thursday, October 18, 6-8pm. On Thursday, October 25 at 7pm, participating artists will be discussing their work in a panel discussion.
