Michael Cunliffe Thompson
| Artist's Bio Michael Cunliffe Thompson was born 1939 in Bebington, England. Gained an Honors Degree in Physics then worked thirty years as a software engineer. Mike found time for painting in oils and silk screen printing. During his travels to many countries he did charcoal landscapes. In 2002, Mike made a complete career change and began painting full time. Mike is self taught and learned by looking at the work of other artists. He particularly admires Marsden Hartley, Fairfield Porter and the Canadian Group of Seven. At Concord Art Association, courses by Charlotte Gibbs and Jon Imber helped improved painting skills. Also the unique adrenaline high of Paint the Town has taught the value of speed. As for being retired, Mike can only say he has never worked so hard. A lot of paintings is a lot of work! You can see his work in the Salt Meadow Gallery in East Sandwich, MA and The Wright Gallery on Cape Porpoise, Maine and also in many juried shows in Massachusetts.
