KANDINSKY RETROSPECTIVE
Day Trip on Tuesday, November 10, 2009
This is the first full scale
retrospective of KandinskyÕs career in the United States since 1985. Nearly 100
paintings have been brought together from three partner institutions that have
the greatest concentration of his work: the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, Centre Pompidou in Paris, and
Stadtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich.
The exhibition will offer a
comprehensive chronological survey of KandinskyÕs work through a selection of
his most important canvases including examples from his series of Improvisations,
Impressions and Compositions. It will
trace KandinskyÕs vision through thematic motifs such as the horse and rider,
mountainous landscapes, tumultuous seascapes, apolcalyptic imagery and
religious subjects.
We will board a bus in Concord early in
the morning, arrive at the Guggenheim in time for a catered lunch, followed by
a private tour of the show. There
will be plenty of extra time to explore the museum before we head back to
Concord.
$225 Members (add $25 for non-members)
Includes bus transportation, morning coffee and
muffins, admission to museum, catered lunch, private tour of exhibit, and
gratuities.
